1955年，韩美林先生考上了梦寐以求的中央美术学院，对他来说，那是一次命运的重大转折，从此，他翻开了人生新的一页。尽管成就辉煌，韩美林先生始终不曾忘记老师的教育及共和国对他的培养。
　　知识改变命运，让每个孩子都有书读、有学上一直是韩美林先生的梦想。为了让孩子们有更多受教育的机会，韩美林先生一直致力于我国的希望工程捐助事业。从1997年捐助第一所希望小学开始，20多年来，“韩美林希望小学”已遍布延安、甘肃、云南等祖国的贫困地区。
　　2009年，由北京奥组委牵头、韩美林先生个人出资在全国的东西南北中五个方位的贫困地区建立了五所“福娃”希望小学，分别以五个福娃的名字命名，她们是：
　　东：浙江省丽水市莲都区峰源乡中心小学 （福娃贝贝希望小学）
　　西：甘肃省敦煌市肃州镇南阳沟小学 （福娃欢欢希望小学）
　　南：云南省建水县临安镇罗卜甸村小学 （福娃晶晶希望小学）
　　北：内蒙古自治区土默特左旗 （福娃妮妮希望小学）
　　中：湖南省桃源县马宗岭乡兴安小学 （福娃迎迎希望小学）
　　这是与新中国同行的韩美林先生在祖国60华诞之际、在自己从艺60周年之时送给贫困地区孩子们的五份礼物。

　　In 1955, Mr. Han Meilin was admitted to the Central Academy of Fine Arts. It was an important turning point for him; his life was completely changed. Despite having achieved great success, he has never forgotten his teachers’ education.
　　Knowledge changes life. Mr. Han Meilin has always dreamed that every child would have chance to receive education. As a result, he has been committed to the Chinese Hope Primary School Project. Since began donating in 1997, “Han Meilin Hope Primary Schools” have been established all over China’s poverty-stricken areas such as Yan’an, Gansu and Yunnan.
　　In 2009, five “Fuwa Hope Primary Schools” were established in five poverty-stricken areas in eastern, western, southern, northern and middle China. These schools include:
　　East: Fengyuan Village Primary School, Lishui of Zhejiang (Fuwa Beibei Hope Primary School)
　　West: Nanyanggou Primary School, Dunhuang of Gansu (Fuwa Huanhuan Hope Primary School)
　　South: Luobodian Village Primary School, Jianshui of Yunnan (Fuwa Jingjing Hope Primary School)
　　North: Motezuoqi, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (Fuwa Nini Hope Primary School)
　　Middle: Xing’an Primary School, Taoyuan of Hunan (Fuwa Yingying Hope Primary School)
　　These are five precious gifts Mr. Han Meilin gave to children on the 60th anniversary of the PRC’s founding and 60th anniversary of his art.
